Leica has launched version 2.0 of its image transfer app Leica FOTOS, including a $50 pro version that will work on iPad. The new app replaces all previous Leica transfer apps. Here is what we know about it.
The free version for iPhone and Android will allow users to view and transfer images captured on Leica cameras, control the camera remotely from a smartphone, share pictures to social media, and transfer to various editing apps.
The $50 Pro version for iPad includes some advanced features to give photographers a little more control over the images. Leica FOTOS for iPad will have all of the features of the free version, but also include Adobe Lightroom integration. Users will be able to transfer RAW files—as well as JPGs—and control the camera’s video mode through the app—allowing the iPad to function as a wireless off-camera monitor during a shoot.
The new Leica FOTOS app will be compatible with the following Leica cameras: Leica S, Leica SL/SL2, Leica M10, Leica M10-P Leica M10-D, Leica Q/Q2, Leica TL/TL2, Leica CL, Leica C-Lux, Leica D-Lux, and Leica V-Lux. Then app can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play.
