Ricoh has announced a forthcoming lens for Pentax K mount DSLR cameras. The HD PENTAX-D FA 70-210mm F4 ED SDM WR is a lightweight telephoto zoom lens with a weather-resistant body aimed primarily at nature and wildlife photographers. The 70-210mm focal length is equivalent to 107-322mm when attached to PENTAX APS-C size DSLR cameras. Here is what else we know about it:
- Made up of 20 elements in 14 groups, including three extra-low dispersion elements and two anomalous dispersion elements
- Features 9 rounded aperture blades
- Pentax’s HD multi-layer coating reduces reflects and cuts down on flare and ghosting
- A super-protective coating minimizes smudges and grease on the front element
- Lens features a SDM (Supersonic Direct-drive Motor) for quiet, high-speed AF operation
- A two-step focus range limiter minimizes AF operation time in the field
- Minimum focusing distance of 3.11 feet
- Approximately 6.9 inches long
- Weighs 1.89 lbs with lens hood
- Lens will be available February 15 for $1099.95
Ultimately this lens seems like a great option for Pentax shooters who love to spend time outside photographing landscapes and wildlife.
