By now, you have probably noticed that PopPhoto.com has gotten a bit of a facelift. This new contest section is one of our favorite parts of the new features. We have a huge collection of super-talented readers pointing their cameras all over the globe and we wanted to offer them a place to show off their stuff — not to mention win some excellent photographic prizes.
For our first contest, we have chosen the concept of “Childhood.” It could be anything from a picture of your own smiling offspring to an abstract image of a discarded toy meant to reduce the viewer into a sobbing heap. The key is to be creative.
Going forward, we’ll be offering up more contests with themes that range from vague concepts (like this one) to specific techniques and processes.
The contest submission period starts on April 5, 2011 and will go until midnight on April 19th. The winner will get a Lensbaby Scout fisheye lens ($250) in the mount of their choice. You’ll also notice a “Vote” button on each individual image. Click it on your favorite images and the two submissions with the most votes at the end of the contest will be featured as PopPhoto.com’s Photo of the Day. You can’t vote for your own photos, but there’s no rule against spamming your friends over Facebook and Twitter, begging them to click that vote button.
You can submit up to three images, so make them count. To enter, you’ll have to register for a user account.
Get out. Start shooting!
