Dblcam iPhone App Takes Photos With Both Cameras Simultaneously
This little app will snap a photo from both front and back cameras, and combine the two into a single image
Unless you’re a heavy Face Time user, the front camera on your iPhone probably doesn’t get much use. This new app, however, links it to the main camera, instructing them both to grab a shot at the same time. The free iPhone app Dblcam is very simple: it fires off two photographs in quick succession, one from each direction. The images are then stitched together, and can be shared through the usual social networks of Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and more.
You can see a lot of examples of the photos the app produces by nosing around the Tumblr and Instagram tags. As you might expect, the majority of the photos are people pulling a face into the camera, while snapping whatever takes their interest at that moment. But, as with any photographic app, you can do some more interesting things if you try.
Unfortunately, there are no editing tools in the app, so you can’t change the where the photos are stitched together, change orientation, or filter the photos at all. However, it’s well designed and simple, and can evidently produce some intriguing images.
