Disposable Cameras Given To Japanese Tsunami Victims Document Life After the Flood

Our sister site American Photo takes a look today at some spectaculr new work from the Rolls Tohoku project. After the earthquake and tsunami devastated coastal Japan earlier this year, photographer Aichi Hirano began handing out disposable cameras to people young and old living in relief shelters, with the only instruction being to document their lives. Hirano recently posted some new work from his volunteer photographers–check out American Photo for a complete roll of film shot by a young boy living in a shelter. It’s a uniquely intimate, incredibly human glimpse at everyday life in the wake of unfathomable disaster.
